ORDER:
The attention of the all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and all the District Educational Officers in the state are invited to the reference 2nd above wherein the conduct of Formative Assessment -1 for classes 1 to 10 is to be completed before 30th September 2021..
In the reference 1st cited based on the government memo certain instructions have been issued to conduct school readiness programme from 01.09.2021 to 08.10.2021 in all schools under all managements for seamless transition of students from their previous knowledge to current specific knowledge.
Keeping view of the school readiness program which will be continued up to 8th October, 2021, Formative Assessment I shall be conducted as per the schedule given under.
Guidelines for conduct of FA 1:
For conducting FA I the following guidelines shall be followed:
a. FA 1 shall be conducted within the syllabus prescribed for school readiness / worksheets supplied by the government / first lesson or chapter of concerned subject.
b. The following four tools are helpful to assess students in other cognitive
areas like communication, participation, presentation, aesthetics etc.
i. Tool 1: Children participation and reflection (Languages – Read any book other than text book and write a report, Mathematics prepare own problems and solution, Science prepare lab report on
experiment done by him/her, Social Express opinions on contemporary issues) – (10 marks)
ii. Tool 2: Written works- (own expressions in notebooks, field observation, data collection and analysis reports, creative writings etc.) (10 marks)
iii. Tool 3: Project works (Any other suitable tool may be developed by teacher preparation and presentation of Projects, Lab Activity, Model making, art, paintings etc.) (10 marks)
iv. Tool 4: Slip test- Slip test shall be conducted on selected Academic Standards. There is no need to conduct slip test in a specified timetable like our conventional unit test examinations. It is informal in nature teacher has, freedom to conduct slip test in his regular classroom transaction (20 marks)
- Reflections – 10 Marks
- Class room Writing works – 10 Marks
- Project works – 10 Marks
- Slip Test – 10 Marks
- Total Marks – 50 Marks
a. In case of Science, Physical Science and Biological Science teachers are directed to conduct and record Formative Assessment separately for 50 marks each and the average mark shall be recorded under science subject.
b. Under any circumstances printed/common question papers are not suggested for Formative Assessment. c. FA marks should be up loaded through the respective school logins on or before 1/11/2021 which will be available for data entry from 29/10/2021.
Formative Assessment for Primary Classes:
There shall be formative assessment for Primary Classes compulsorily. For this purpose, the SCERT shall communicate the guidelines separately. Remedial Coaching for the underachievers
The purpose of formative assessment is to support and guide the learner through a continuous comprehensive evaluation. For this purpose, as soon as the answer scripts are valuated, the underachievers to be identified subject wise and class wise and remedial coaching plan to be drawn up for each class and each subject..
The teachers shall take up remedial coaching for those students preferably in the morning hours from 8.00 AM to 9.00 AM and 4.00 PM to 6.00 PM as per the convenience or during Sundays also. But instructional hours from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM shall not be utilized for remedial coaching as it would disturb the general academic calendar and syllabus plan.
The first step in the remedial coaching should be giving the question papers of FA 1 again to the students as assignments and students will be asked to attempt them once again, with the help of peer-group or textbooks, if required.
Question papers should not be set based on guides or question banks
At no cost, the question papers shall be based on guides or question banks. If any such instances come to the notice of the Director, School Education, severe action will be initiated against the concerned.
As far as possible, direct questions be avoided and questions testing the concept formation and critical comprehension be encouraged.
Voluntary efforts for external invigilation, external or spot valuation are encouraged
As an innovative practice, schools and teachers may come forward voluntarily seeking external invigilators for the examination. It means they may request teachers from other subjects, other classes or other schools to invigilate the exam of a particular subject in a particular class in a particular school.
Further, the teachers and schools may also seek external evaluation as an innovative measure that may eventually improve the quality of academic standards in the long run. Any School Complex may also organise a one day spot valuation for all the schools in their jurisdiction on voluntary basis.
Therefore, all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and all the District Educational Officers in the state are requested to ensure the Formative Assessment is conducted as per the guidelines and time frame as suggested above and to ensure the 100% student marks entry in the cse portal on or before 1st November, 2021 without fail.
