All the Regional Joint Directors of School Education, District Educational Officers and Additional Project Coordinators, Samagra Shiksha in the State are informed that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes the critical importance of integrating environmental awareness and sustainability principles into school curricula. The Policy envisions sensitizing students to environmental/climate change concerns and inculcating among students the values, attitudes, behaviour and skills essential to address environmental challenges, thus preparing them to contribute to a sustainable future.
Further, it is informed that the last year, a few important steps have been taken to revitalize Eco clubs. The activities of Eco Clubs have been aligned with the seven themes of Mission LiFE, an India-led global mass movement launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister at COP 26 at Glasgow in 2021. The Seven themes of Mission LiFE are as following:

◦ Say No to Single Use Plastic
◦ Adopt Sustainable Food Systems
◦ Reduce Waste
◦ Adopt Healthy Lifestyle
◦ Reduce E-waste
Further, the nomenclature of Eco Clubs has been changed to “Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE” and to capture the activities of Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE, a portal (https://ecoclubs.education.gov.in/) has been developed. 1.46 lakh new Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE have been established as reported by States/UTs on the conclusion of Shiksha Saptah in July, 2024.
Government of Andhra Pradesh introduced an innovative initiative ‘Green Passport’ which shall be aligned with EK Ped Maa Ke Naam activity. The interested students of the 4th to 10th classes along with the names of the adopted plants list are registered in Green Passport app to facilitate the monitoring the growth of the plants and shall be awarded after completion of 10th class.
The procedure for opening new Eco Club for Mission LiFE is annexed and it is further requested that the exercise of establishment of Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE in each school under the jurisdiction may be completed by 31st August, 2025. All schools are to be registered in Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE portal.
Hence, all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education, District Educational Officers and Additional Project Coordinators, Samagra Shiksha in the State are requested to issue instructions to all the schools concerned under the jurisdiction for establishing Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE as per procedure and to register Eco clubs in the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE portal and display of the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE notification. Integrate Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam And Green Passport in coming Mega PTM 2.0 on 10th July 2025.
