Description Simple experiments for children in science and mathematics.
We know that children learn by doing.
We do experiments from commonly available, used material which every children has access to and can be done at home.
These simple experiments and activities really help the children in making science and mathematics education fun and interesting.
These fun experiments and models will instill in children love and joy for science .
(1) What you need 1. Paper cup 2. Pencil 3. A sheet of paper 4. Tissue paper 5. Plastic straw 6. Scissors This experiment of static electricity is a great fun for school children. It is a very simple method to produce static electricity. Everybody can do it at home. It’s simple, easy, cheap and funny. Do it yourself now.
(2) An electroscope is a scientific device that is used to detect the presence of electric charges on a body. There are two types of electroscopes. 1. Pith ball electroscope. 2. Gold leaf electroscope. In this video using pith ball electroscope and proved the properties of electric charges. Let us see the experiment and do it yourself in your home and enjoy.
(3)In daily life, we can listen so many sounds from motor vehicles, factories, utensils, sound of birds and animals. Any have production of sound requires vibrations of object. we can’t see the vibrations from the objects when they produce sounds. The experiment ” OBSERVING THE VIBRATIONS IN TUNING FORK “, We can see the vibrations with our naked eye. In this experiment i used Tuning fork, Card board stand, metal bowl, glass bowl, wooden stick and water. Let us see and enjoy.
(4) In today’s world, hundreds of appliances use a motor. So, friends today let us make a very simple DC motor with house hold materials. You need a battery, safety pins, insulated copper wire, magnet, old bicycle tube, scissors and a cutter. Take a 1 meter of insulated copper wire and wind it around the battery. Move it around 5 or 6 turns and remove it from the battery. Take one end and tie a knot and stretch it out. Repeat the same at other end. For equal distances of the weight both the knots should be diametrically opposite. Trim both ends to 3 cm. Now take a cutter and scrape off three sides on one end such that one side is still insulated. On other diametrically opposite side scrape the insulation entirely. The coil is ready now. Next take an old bicycle tube and cut two broad rubber bands. Stretch and fix these rubber bands on battery and tuck in the magnet and the safety pins. The motor is now ready. If you place the coil in this assembly it starts. “A motor is a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy”. When the coil is connected to the battery current passes through it which makes it electromagnet. This electromagnet has its north and south poles. The permanent magnet placed in the vicinity of the magnet gives it attractive and repulsive kick depending on the polarity of both the magnets and the coil rotates. As you might remember as we purposely left the insulation at one end. This precisely contributes switching the current on and off for every rotation. Current passing, magnetic field and number of turns are the three important factors. Wasn’t it simple? So make your own D.C. motor and have fun
(5) Load stone is a natural magnet. Magnets are in different shapes i.e. bar magnets, horse shoe magnets, ring type magnets, button magnets, compass etc., The material that are attracted by magnets are called magnetic materials. A bar magnet always has two ends whose attractive capacity is more than other parts of it. Each magnet has two poles ‘ North ‘ and ‘ South ‘ . Like poles repel unlike poles attract in the magnet. Freely suspend magnet always aligns in North and South direction. Magnetic property possessed by a magnetic substance due to the presence of a magnet near to it, is called magnetic induction.
