✅ Eligibility at a Glance

  • Residence: Bonafide resident of the district, studying in Class V (2026-27) in a recognized school.
  • Age: Born between 01.05.2015 and 31.07.2017 (both dates inclusive).
  • Schooling: Must have spent/studied full academic session in Class III, IV and V.
  • Repeaters not allowed: Candidates who have already appeared in JNVST earlier are not eligible.

📖 Introduction & Objectives

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are co-educational residential schools, fully financed by Government of India through Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Admissions are made through JNVST to Class VI. Medium of instruction is mother tongue/regional language up to Class VIII, thereafter English for Maths & Science, Hindi for Social Science.

💰 Fee: Free education including board & lodging, uniform, textbooks.
Students of Classes IX–XII pay ₹600/- per month (VVN) – SC/ST, Divyang, all Girls, and BPL families are exempted.

  • Provide quality modern education with value inculcation, environmental awareness, and physical education to talented children (predominantly rural).
  • Ensure competency in three languages.
  • Promote national integration through migration (Hindi ↔ Non-Hindi states).
  • Serve as focal point for improving school education in the district.

📝 Selection Test – JNVST 2027

  • Date: 28th November 2026 (single phase for Summer & Winter bound JNVs).
  • Duration: 2 hours (11:30 AM – 01:30 PM).
  • Total Questions: 80 (Objective type) for 100 marks.
  • Negative marking: No negative marking.
  • Qualifying marks per section: Mental Ability & EVS (14), Arithmetic (7), Language (7).
  • Divyang candidates: Additional 40 minutes.

⚠️ Important Instructions

🔴 Application form is liable for rejection if any column is left blank or incomplete. False information will lead to cancellation even after provisional selection. NVS may recover expenditure incurred on the student.

  • Online registration free – via navodaya.gov.in. Documents (photo, signatures, Aadhaar/residence proof) in JPG (10–100 kb).
  • District-specific: Apply only for the district of residence/study (Class V).
  • Rural/Urban: 75% seats for rural candidates (studied in rural school for Class III–V).
  • Reservation: SC (15%), ST (7.5%), OBC (27% as per Central List), and ⅓ preference to girls.
  • Divyang: Orthopedically handicapped, hearing impaired, visually handicapped (≥40% disability).
  • Migration: Mandatory for Class IX (one academic year) – refusal leads to discontinuation.

  • Rural: At least 75% seats from rural areas of the district.
  • Open seats: Remaining seats filled on merit (both rural & urban).
  • SC/ST: In proportion to district population (min. 15% SC, 7.5% ST).
  • OBC: 27% reservation as per Central List (valid certificate required).
  • Divyang: As per Govt. norms (Orthopedic, Hearing, Visual).
  • Transgender: No separate reservation; included in Boys category.

  • Certificate from Head Master (Class III, IV, V study details with Rural/Urban location).

  • Undertaking for Migration.
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from parent school.

🌐 Exam Language / Medium

Test booklet is provided in the language chosen in the online form. Change of language is not possible. Choose carefully.

  2. Read prospectus & ensure eligibility.
  3. Keep soft copies: photograph, parent & candidate signatures (JPG, 10–100 kb).
  4. Fill in State, District, Block, Aadhaar, APAAR ID, PEN etc.
  5. Upload documents & submit.
  6. Correction window will be opened for limited fields (Gender, Area, Category, Disability, Medium).

🎫 Admit Card & Result

  • Admit card: Download free from application portal before exam.
  • Result: Expected by end of March 2027. Displayed on portal, JNV offices, DEO, DM, and NVS website.
  • Waitlist: No separate waitlist; vacancies filled via auto-populated list through portal.

📌 Provisional Selection & Admission

  • Selection is provisional; admission subject to verification of original certificates.
  • No re-evaluation – OMR evaluation is fully automated and final.
  • Admission strictly in the JNV of the district of residence/study. No shifting/transfer allowed.
  • All admissions closed by 31st August 2027.
