Swachh Survekshan (SS) 2025-26 — Preparatory Measures for Field Assessment in Government & Private Schools

The attention of all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education (RJDSEs) and District Educational Officers (DEOs) in the State is hereby informed that in the reference 2nd cited, the Managing Director, Swacha Andhra Corporation, A.P has communicated that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs initiated the Swachh Survekshan in 2016 to assess and encourage improvements in urban sanitation across the country. The upcoming tenth edition — Swachh Survekshan (SS) 2025-26 — will evaluate all cities under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U). Field inspections are expected to commence from 16th April 2026.

As per the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, the State has targeted to secure at least 50% of the national awards in this year’s Swachh Survekshan and is also aiming at achieving ranks below 1000 for all the ULBs. It is further emphasized that all ULBs must focus on reducing penalties to zero and aim to improve their performance score by 2000–2500 marks in the upcoming assessment. According to the SS 2025-26 Toolkit, specific components of the field assessment include the evaluation of Government and Private Schools, particularly with regard to the following indicators:

The total marks allotted to these sections amount to 350, making them critical contributors to the overall score. In this context, it is requested to direct the concerned to take the following actions with immediate effect:

📋 Preparatory Measures – Immediate Implementation

  • Daily sweeping and cleaning of classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, and common areas.
  • Implement proper waste management through segregation, twin-bin usage, and regular disposal.
  • Maintain clean, functional, and hygienic toilets with adequate water supply.
  • Ensure availability of hand washing facilities with soap and running water.
  • Display cleanliness and hygiene awareness posters across school premises.
📢 Directive from Government: In the reference 2nd cited, the Government have also issued instructions to undertake the above preparatory measures for field assessment in upcoming Swachh Survekshan (SS) 2025-26.

Therefore, all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Officers in the State are requested to issue necessary instructions to all the Heads of Institutions (HMs) of all Schools including Private Schools of their jurisdiction to undertake the above preparatory measures for field assessment in upcoming Swachh Survekshan (SS) 2025-26.
